Justin Haler
We are sorry to announce that Justin Haler has passed away in South Africa on January 16th after a short illness.
Justin covered one litre formula three for Autosport in the last years of the formula, at a time when Autosport was Simon Taylor, Justin and maybe one or two others.
Justin attended the Oulton Park Gold Cup in August 2010 to research his book, and he was able to meet again many of the period drivers who had been gathered together by Mike Hedger. 1000ccF3HRA had the pleasure of hosting a barbecue for this august body of ‘old boys’, as Charles Lucas described them, the cream of 1960’s formula three huddled under an awning in the rain.
Justin was coming to the end of the momentous task of documenting the ‘screamers’ era, and we understand that publication of his book was intended for the summer of 2011.
We would like to extend our sincere condolences to Justin’s family and many friends.
